Counting your blessings...

There's this song I know. I think you guys'll know it too. It goes like this

♬   Count your blessings, name them one by one,   Count your blessings, see what God hath done!   Count your blessings, name them one by one,
♬   And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

How many times have you sung this song I wonder? I'm asking myself as i am you, this very question. You see, when you tell someone to count their blessings and see how impossible they are, they go and get you a list of all the cars they've got, lotteries that they won, clothes they bought, job promotions they've earned, you know....all the big stuff. I wonder, how often do we remember that

we also have to count the blessings of clean water? clean air?

Friends and Frienemies; Enemies and more...

---What use is forgiving your ENEMIES, if you can't even forgive your own FRIENDS?

There's this "humour quote" that says - "The bible probably tells us to love our neighbours and love our enemies, probably because they are generally the same people".

Sometimes even the funniest statements contain constants of truth. Think of it this way - a lot of times your 'enemies' are simply friends that you haven't made yet, and I believe that friends are simply 'enemies' you've come to understand.

Is it worth it? Being a “NICE GUY”…

(This post is from a few years back when I was struggling with a lot of uncertainties. It's still more or less a classic, so you can check it out...)

Is it really worth it?
Honestly? I can’t say for sure anymore.

Let me tell you what people think about 'Nice Guys'. Nice guys make sacrifices. Nice guys relinquish all pleasure and ignore their desires to please people. Nice guys don’t DO danger. Nice guys don’t go after girls/ladies – oh no, NEVER {rolls-eyes}. Nice guys are safe to be around. Nice guys never “go too far”. Nice guys get kicked around like tires and do nothing about it. Nice guys will open the door for you, give up their seat for you, buy you a free meal and never remind you of it, keep a polite distance away and NEVER come too close, say the nicest words and never have alternative thoughts, never take advantage of you or circumstances, are always in good cheer and seem never to get angry. All in all, basically – Nice guys are nice.
